WordWatching Editorial Services is owned and run by me, Guy Tindale. I offer a unique combination of editorial skills, experience and wide-ranging subject knowledge.

All sorts of things inspire me and arouse my curiosity. The best thing about my job is finding out what you have to say and helping you to perfect it.

Before launching this business, I had careers in education and community development. I now work part-time supporting students with disabilities in higher education, which includes developing and proofreading academic writing. That side of my work is very client-focussed, and puts me in touch with amazing people and their wide ranging expertise: everything from Agricultural Marketing to Zoo Management, by way of Civil Engineering, English Literature, Maths and Sociology…

I’ve always been a person others ask to check their writing: I hope I’m accurate without being pedantic, and want the voice of my clients to come through in my editing work.  I got into working with texts professionally by assessing funding applications, and understood how writing can have precise jobs to do – and may need help to succeed. Later I began working freelance for publishers, checking indexes, transcribing interviews for publication, and then proofreading and editing. I also help generate content, as a researcher for interviewers and as a writer myself. I now have hundreds of hours of experience in these areas.  Look under services I offer to see examples of the diverse and exciting projects I’ve worked on.

I’m a Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), so you can be sure that I conform to nationally recognized standards and ethics and a fair price structure, and that I access ongoing professional training and development. I have some very able peers in the industry so even if I can’t help, I can certainly direct you to someone who can.

Further back, I gained a First Class degree in Religious Studies from Cambridge University and a distinction in my Masters degree in Psychology.

WordWatching is based in Tyne and Wear in North East England. It’s a friendly part of the world and I hope you’ll experience that if you deal with us.
